St. Simon of Cyrene Orthodox Mission
New Brunswick, New Jersey
Orthodox Church in America

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I greet you all in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

It is with great joy that I can greet you, on behalf of our Mission community to our home on the web. More than that, I would like to extend a welcome to you to join us in prayer whenever you are in the New Brunswick area, located on the Northeast corridor rail line and home of Rutgers University.

St Simon of Cyrene Orthodox Mission is a community dedicated to the building up of the Holy Orthodox Church in an area that has yet to be exposed to our faith. This is a monumental task, and at present the laborers are few just having started out, but with God's grace and mercy we will grow and truly become a proper witness to the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.

I ask you all to sincerely keep us in your daily prayers that the work of our
great God and Savior Jesus Christ be accomplished not only here but throughout the world.

Love and Prayers,

Fr. Samuel M. Davis, Rector

The Mission of The Orthodox Church in America, the local autocephalous Orthodox Christian Church, is to be faithful in fulfilling the commandment of Christ to “Go into all the world and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…”

The Holy Scripture is a collection of books written over multiple centuries by those inspired by God to do so. It is the primary witness to the Orthodox Christian faith, within Holy Tradition and often described as its highest point. It was written by the prophets and apostles in human language, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and collected, edited, and canonized by the Church.

Daily Readings >

Holiness or sainthood is a gift (charisma) given by God to man, through the Holy Spirit. Man's effort to become a participant in the life of divine holiness is indispensable, but sanctification itself is the work of the Holy Trinity, especially through the sanctifying power of Jesus Christ, who was incarnate, suffered crucifixion, and rose from the dead, in order to lead us to the life of holiness, through the communion with the Holy Spirit.
